The common or English thyme Thyme (Thymus vulgaris Latin name) is a plant native to the Mediterranean, ideal for dried herb gardens. This plant is an ingredient versatile favorite in the kitchen gardens, grows well in the rocks or overflowing containers and is a staple in medieval knot garden classic.

These grasses grow as shrubs or shrublets with small oval leaves measuring just inches 1 / 4 long. Are evergreen and flowers in spring to early summer in little whorls at the tips of the stems. The flowers are shaped like small trumpets, usually white or pale violet.

One of the most popular of the thyme is fragrant with the aroma of lemon thyme, sometimes called German Thyme (Thymus x citriodorus) with a strong smell of lemon. Citriodorus It comes in a varied form (Thymus variegata). This herb has lovely deep green leaves with golden or silver or cream color at the edges. This charming usually stays under 8 inches tall, but may extend to two feet. This is excellent, fresh or dried chicken and turkey.

In the kitchen thyme You can use either fresh or dried. It goes well with poultry and eggs and add a rich flavor to soups and stews. Thyme also has a long history in the kit.
